Comedy Central has censored the latest episode of South Park amid fears of reprisal from Islamic terror groups. The shows 200th episode depicts the Muslim prophet Muhammad wearing a bear costume the result of which is a death threat from Islamic Extremists warning that South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will be murdered.

In the 200th episode of South Park, which was broadcast last week, a proposal to bring the Prophet Mohamed to town is met with short shrift at a community meeting. "Are you nuts?" one character says. New York is not the only city that currently has a mosque controversy. Conservative Christian wackies in Murfreesboro, Tennessee are opposing the expansion of their local Islamic Center. Because, you know, it's just for training more terrorists and stuff. Oddly I first heard about the story from the hilarious clip The Daily Show ran on it last week.

For those who didn't the plot basically revolves around the boys being assigned a paper on the first Thanksgiving. Like any good conspiracy theorist Cartman suggests that instead of reading boring old books, they go downstairs and turn on the History Channel. Instead of a historically accurate version of history they are presented with an epic space tale about how the Pilgrims and Indians are really aliens fighting a war over the stuffing mines. Throughout the show they take shots at History's lack of credibility including making up bogus references for the "experts".

Overall I thought it was a timely cultural critique delivered by foul mouthed pre-teens.
